What is Market share?
Your share of all customers or sales in a market.
Hotels often measure their share of all guests (or room revenue) in their area against a set of competitors.
Formula
Market share = Your sales ÷ Total market sales × 100%
Example
If 1,000 guests stay in town tonight and 120 stay with you, your market share is 12%.
Why it matters
Growing market share usually means taking guests from competitors — who then react.
