What is ADR?
Average daily rate
The average price paid per room actually sold.
ADR measures pricing. It only counts rooms that were sold, so it says nothing about how full the hotel is.
Formula
ADR = Room revenue ÷ Rooms sold
Example
Room revenue of $4,000 from 40 rooms sold gives an ADR of $100.
Why it matters
Raising ADR is the fastest way to grow revenue — as long as occupancy does not fall more than prices rise.
