What is Occupancy rate?
The share of available rooms that are sold.
Occupancy shows demand and how well a hotel fills its capacity. Rooms closed for repair are usually left out of "available".
Formula
Occupancy rate = Rooms sold ÷ Rooms available × 100%
Example
40 rooms sold out of 50 available = 80% occupancy.
Why it matters
100% occupancy is not automatically good: it can mean prices are too low.
